Superintendent announces unified elementary schedule, rally and school‑supply drives

Superintendent Dela Flora told the Maple Heights City Schools committee of the whole on Aug. 3 that the district has changed elementary start and end times for the coming school year and urged families to update addresses and contact information to ensure correct bus routing. She said principals will send welcome‑back newsletters and encouraged families to check the district website for supply lists.

"Please be on the lookout for your welcome back to school newsletters from your building principals," Dela Flora said, adding that aligned start times make correct student addresses essential for routing school buses. She also announced a back‑to‑school rally on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Maple Heights High School and a school‑supply donation collection on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Stafford Park during Music in the Park.

The superintendent framed the outreach as both informational and operational: correct contact details, she said, will let transportation staff route buses appropriately and help the district communicate schedule and safety updates. The district did not provide a breakdown of how start‑time changes alter specific bus routes; the superintendent said routing adjustments will be made as needed and families should contact the district for questions.

Board members and staff reiterated outreach plans for families and the district’s communications coordinator will circulate further details before the first day of school.
