Donna gave a building update at the July 22 meeting describing repair progress and a tentative reopening timeline.
She reported that phase 1 carpet replacement is complete and that an envelope consultant's final report is expected soon. "Phase 1 carpet replacement is complete. It's looking really nice," Donna said. She told trustees that roof testing had introduced some water into the building but repairs were made before carpet installation and that phase 2 movers and carpenters are scheduled to continue work next week.
On reopening, Donna said the library is not yet ready to announce a firm date but she is telling patrons to expect an opening in "early to mid September." Trustees discussed teen and children's furniture deliveries and offered help with transport and installation. The board reiterated a commitment to reopening with attention to transparency and stewardship of public funds.
