League of Women Voters praises Seminole County for improved transparency and accessibility

During the public-comment portion of the meeting, Kathy Swerdlow identified herself as president of the League of Women Voters of Seminole County and praised changes made to improve accessibility and transparency in the canvassing process. "I am the president of the League of Women Voters of Seminole County, and I just really wanted to comment and and thank you, supervisor Bennett, for the change in this, accessibility," Swerdlow said, noting signage, chairs and improved sightlines for observers.
The board had moved public comment earlier in the agenda to accommodate observers before the break; board attorney Andrew Lanus read the public-comment policy and reminded observers that sharing results before polls close is a criminal act under Florida law. The office said daily statistics will be reported at subsequent canvassing meetings and that the next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 10 at 9 a.m.
