Council members report economic development, Memorial Park grant application and community events

The council also heard that the Scribe family has launched a nonprofit and plans a community pickleball tournament on Sept. 26 as a kickoff fundraiser, and that Humankind asked the BID for space for a downtown pop-up. “Staff kudos to staff and yourself for, you know, creating an environment that the seniors actually enjoy going to,” Palomar said during the Senior Center discussion; similar praise was offered for downtown efforts.
Administrative items included a finance committee meeting scheduled for Aug. 24, the BID board’s two vacant seats, and a holiday kickoff on Nov. 7. These items were informational and did not require council action at the meeting.
