County staff presented statutory requirements for the Tax Collector's settlement under N.C.G.S. 105‑373 and reviewed the FY2026 collection metrics. The combined annual levy collection rate was 99.41% and the registered motor vehicle (RMV) collection rate was 99.75%. Finance staff highlighted that FY2026 ad valorem revenues exceeded the budget by roughly $5.4 million in year‑to‑date deposits.
After reviewing enforced collection activity and the statutory settlement package, the Board approved the tax collector's settlement, authorized the required bonds (Tax Collector bond $1,000,000; Deputy Tax Collector bond $250,000), and adopted the Order of Collection charging the Tax Collector with collection of FY2027 taxes and open delinquencies.
