The Animal Services Advisory Committee (ASAC) presented findings from a public animal welfare survey conducted from September through November 2025 that drew 1,025 respondents. The survey captured resident locations, species ownership, primary concerns for pets and the broader animal population, and anticipated household wellness budgets. ASAC told the Board the intent was to guide future awareness and service campaigns.
Survey highlights included that 965 respondents identified as Henderson County residents; the most frequent concerns cited for individual animals were access to veterinary care, safe exercise, and affordability. ASAC recommended using the findings to prioritize outreach and to inform future budget and program decisions in Parks & Recreation and Animal Services.
