Paige Wilson, curriculum leader at Spanish Fort Middle School, told the council she used 3-mil commission funds for staff professional development including a whole-staff book study and planning days, art display frames to rotate student work, and to identify conferences and training to address an ELA ACAT score decline in 8th grade. “I27ve used the 3 mil funds mainly for professional development,” Wilson said, describing a book-study approach the school has adopted as its theme for the year.
Miss Brabner (3-mil commission) said the video and presentations show how 3-mil funds are being used across the schools and highlighted the need to continue supporting strategies that improve teaching and learning. Council members thanked the presenters and noted positive results across the feeder pattern last school year.
