Seal failure, communications outage blamed for lift-station pump shorting; city plans backups

Staff described plans to install a float alarm and acquire spare motors and backup pumps so future failures trigger timely alarms and reduce environmental releases. "The seal failed," public works reported, describing the origin of the incident.
