Deputy Superintendent Dr. Monica Schroeder updated the Board on discussions among member districts of the TrueNorth Education Cooperative 804, reporting that Districts 34 and 225 have announced intent to withdraw effective June 30, 2026, and other member districts are considering withdrawal. Dr. Schroeder said District 112 has joined a group of districts consulting an attorney to evaluate options, including a three‑year withdrawal timeline and asking TrueNorth leadership to revise bylaws that currently require an expensive independent self‑evaluation by withdrawing districts.
Board member Lisa Hirsh, who serves on the TrueNorth Leadership Council as District 112’s representative, expressed sadness and disappointment with the prospect of the cooperative dissolving and raised concerns about the effect on vulnerable students. Administration said more clarity is expected soon and the Board will be updated as discussions with TrueNorth and counsel continue.
