The proposed 2027 county contractual services amount is $140,000, based on county population, and Purdue University will absorb some educator technology and mileage expenses to reduce local office costs.
Southwest Area Director Lisa Wilson described differences between local extension office staff and Purdue educators. After discussion, the commissioners placed a hiring freeze on the vacant Program Assistant position to observe how the transition works, and the board agreed to support the 2027 budget proposal and forward it to County Council for final approval.
