President Michael W. Kluesner read a statement from County Engineer Levi Leffert outlining potential revenue impacts from Governor Braun's order continuing the gas tax suspension. Leffert told the council the Highway Department averages approximately $345,000 per month in MVH revenue and Local Road & Street receives about $66,500 per month; he estimated a four‑month suspension could reduce combined revenues by roughly $800,000.
Leffert said he did not want to suspend, delay, or cancel current projects and that he would monitor actual revenue impacts before requesting additional funds. Following the discussion, the council's consensus was to use LIT‑ED funds if needed to cover any shortfall for projects already planned in 2026.
