The North Shore School District 112 Board of Education on May 20 approved entering a 25‑year on‑site solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Centrica Business Solutions to install rooftop solar systems at Edgewood, Indian Trail and Oak Terrace schools.
District solar advisor Aaron Raftery told the Board that Centrica was the highest‑rated proposer after a competitive RFP process that drew seven bids and two finalist interviews. The PPA avoids upfront equipment costs by having a third party own, install and maintain the systems; the administration projected energy cost savings of $1,189,402.00 over 25 years and estimated installations would be complete by December 2025.
Centrica also committed to K–8 curricular supports, including wall‑mounted monitors showing real‑time production and classroom materials to support teacher instruction. The Board approved the agreement subject to attorney review and final contract language.
