The Jacksonville School District #117 Board of Education Committee met in committee session Wednesday, March 19, 2025, beginning at 6:30 PM in the Board Room, 211 West State Street, Jacksonville.
Board President Beard called roll; members present were Mr. Beard, Mrs. Leonard, Mr. Lonergan, Mr. Pool, Mrs. Stewart and Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. Trace was absent. Also in attendance were Superintendent Steve Ptacek; Assistant Superintendent Matt Moore; Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kelly Zoellner; Director of Human Resources Tami Stice; Chief Financial Officer Rick Cunningham; and Recording Secretary Jenn Lacey.
Early in the meeting board member Mrs. Wilson moved, seconded by board member Mr. Lonergan, to approve the agenda "as presented." The motion passed unanimously: Wilson, Lonergan, Pool, Stewart, Leonard, Beard voted yea. The approval of the agenda allowed the board to proceed to the scheduled business.
Shortly after, Mrs. Wilson again moved, seconded by Mr. Lonergan, to adjourn into Closed Session at 6:31 PM. The motion specified the statutory bases for the closed session: the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)); collective negotiating matters and salary schedules (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2)); litigation that is pending or probable (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11)); and the purchase or lease of real property for district use (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5)). The motion carried on a unanimous vote.
The board returned to open session at 6:58 PM on a motion by Mrs. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Lonergan; the vote to return was unanimous. President Beard then offered visitors an opportunity for questions or petitions; the record notes there were none. Mr. Lonergan moved, seconded by Mrs. Wilson, to adjourn the Committee of the Whole Meeting at 6:59 PM; that motion also carried unanimously.
