Board plans swearing-in, orientation and strategic review after April election

Following local elections on April 1, Prospect Heights SD 23 staff outlined certification, swearing-in of newly elected board members by May 9 and a transition plan including orientation, IASB self‑evaluation and strategic plan reviews.
District administrators told the Board on April 10 that local elections held April 1 included three uncontested Board seats and that the district will await certification before swearing in newly elected members. The district must seat new members by May 9; the Board’s May 8 regular meeting will be used for oath and transition activities.
Superintendent Don Angelaccio reviewed planned orientation activities for incoming board members, including participation in newly revised Board orientation sessions, meetings with administrators to cover the Strategic Plan, the annual financial report and budgeting processes, a facilities tour, and committee assignments. The Board also scheduled an IASB‑facilitated self‑evaluation workshop (closed session permitted by Open Meetings Act) for May 10 and a June meeting with administrative and PTO/PHEA leaders for a working dinner and strategic goals workshop.
