City arranges temporary shelter after Sheltered Inc. closure; Homefull of Dayton to operate former Fire Station 5

Logan Cobbs, representing the City of Springfield, told the Clark County Reentry Coalition that Homefull of Dayton was selected to operate shelter services at the former Fire Station 5 at 1707 Commerce Road under a proposed one-year agreement with an option to renew, pending City Commission approval. Cobbs said Homefull will initially serve current Sheltered Inc. clients with an approximate capacity of 50 beds for single men and women and that a waitlist is expected due to limited capacity.
Coalition members raised concerns about the immediate service gap and noted the arrangement is intended to be temporary while longer-term solutions are developed. City approval remains required before the arrangement takes effect.
Next steps identified in the meeting included ongoing coordination with shelter providers and monitoring of capacity and client transitions.
