Members of the Budget and Advisory Committee identified the newly created Francestown Independent School District (FISD) as an unknown factor that could affect town finances and recommended steps to improve information flow.
"Discussion of the impact of the newly created Francestown Independent School District (FISD), which is an unknown. We agreed we need to understand their budget so it can help inform us as we need to make trade off decisions and recommendations," the minutes state. The BAC agreed members should attend FISD board meetings or invite a member of the FISD budget committee to BAC meetings to be better informed.
Minutes also flagged the potential for a bond issue to purchase the school as a future budget driver; the BAC said any such measure would affect town finances and should be tracked closely.
