Resident offers field turnaround as town reviews Hay Hill Road status

Jonas said, to his knowledge, previous property owners at Map 6 Lot 33 had an agreement allowing plows to turn around at the end of the property. "Mr. Jonas also offered the use of his field as a turnaround for the Highway Department," the minutes record. Town attendee Gary Paige said the town has historically graded the road and added gravel.
Gerri Bernstein told the board that the property owners do not currently have an application before the Planning Board but had been informed that road improvements would be required should they pursue a subdivision. Bernstein said she would contact town counsel to obtain further clarification about the road's classification.
The Select Board noted there is no record indicating Hay Hill Road is a town road and concluded that the section that begins at the stonewall and extends north appears to be a private driveway that does not meet town road standards. The board did not adopt a formal reclassification at the meeting and identified contacting town counsel as a next step.
