Francestown Garden Coop asks Select Board to approve planting three sugar maples near Old Meeting House

Martine Bohnsack, representing the Francestown Garden Coop Committee, asked the Select Board on July 27 to approve the purchase and planting of three sugar maple trees along the sides of the Old Meeting House.
Maple Hill Nursery provided a quote of $1,700 to buy and plant the three trees. Bohnsack also asked whether the board could remove two small trees on the left side of the building and a stump on the right side. The board said it would review the current budget and determine whether town equipment could perform the work or whether funds would be needed.
"Ms. Bohnsack will verify that sufficient funds are available before confirming the purchase of all three trees," the board recorded. Select Board member Charles M. Pyle III noted that a local family previously donated funds for tree planting which might help offset the cost.
The board took no immediate vote on the purchase and asked the committee to return with confirmation of funding or other options for covering planting and removal costs.
