Francestown BAC praises revised budget report, vows to start next season earlier

The Town of Francestown Budget and Advisory Committee (BAC) agreed the committee’s revised report to the town was "really good" and had received positive feedback, and members resolved to begin next year’s budget process earlier.
"All members agreed that the new version of the report to the town was really good and feedback has been positive," the minutes state. Committee members said the additional time will allow more analysis and public engagement before recommendations are finalized.
Members discussed using a consistent slide deck tied closely to the BAC report when presenting at public meetings and Town Meeting and agreed the BAC could create and present that deck, either with staff support or on its own, pending a follow-up conversation with the Selectboard. The committee also committed to producing a complete narrative to accompany any slides so residents can understand trade-offs behind recommendations.
The BAC set a follow-up to clarify expectations with the Selectboard and to plan outreach steps earlier in the calendar year.
