The commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County opened its Jan. 7 regular meeting at 9:00 a.m., and moved to fill leadership roles. After a motion by Commissioner Damon Hoyte to appoint Commissioner Timothy Biddle as chairman died for lack of a second, Commissioner Gerald Douglas nominated Charles Coffey. The motion to appoint Coffey passed after Commissioner Jason Frost seconded and Commissioner Hoyte voted against the measure.
The board then unanimously appointed Commissioner Timothy Biddle as vice-chair in a motion by Commissioner Jason Frost that Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded. The meeting record shows the votes taken during the appointments and lists the commissioners present; the session was live streamed on the county’s Facebook page.
The leadership decisions came alongside routine business including approval of Dec. 3 and Dec. 23, 2024 minutes and an executive session later in the meeting for legal matters.
