Red Cross reports recent fire response, asks for volunteers; public notices include facility tour and grant opportunities

Jim Rich of the American Red Cross reported the organization continues to support fire responses in Elko County, described a recent dwelling fire that displaced a resident and urged community members to volunteer.
"We are primarily a volunteer organization, and we have 2 I think responders in local County and we would love to have more," Rich said, asking those interested to sign up at www.redcross.org. He described the Red Cross role in providing assistance to displaced residents and in community preparedness outreach.
In public comment, Cammie Kinkade noted a go-bag available for training, announced a Southwest Emulsion plant tour on June 25, reminded the group of an annual $901 fee report due mid‑June and offered to assist with IPAWS alerting authority requests. She also flagged that BRIC and FMA flood mitigation assistance grants are currently open for mitigation projects.
Committee members thanked the Red Cross for its response work and acknowledged the grant and training notices; no formal action was taken on these items.
