Fire board accepts federal excess equipment for refurbishment and district use

The board approved accepting federal excess equipment from the NDF and federal partners with minimal fiscal impact, as staff plan to refurbish and upfit units for district operations. Staff described inventory including former military and agency vehicles that are usable or repairable; one vehicle will receive federal cost-sharing for refurbishment to support cross-staffing.
Chief Matt Peterson said the inventory includes former U.S. Forest Service and Fish and Wildlife vehicles and that the district inspected items for repurposing: "They offer it to local governments if it's still in repairable or usable condition," he said. Commissioner (speaker 2) moved to accept the equipment and the board approved the acceptance by voice vote.
