At the May 6 reorganization meeting, the River Forest SD 90 Board elected its leadership for the coming year. After nominations and brief remarks by candidates and supporters, Mrs. Katie Avalos was elected Board President by members' voice vote; Dr. Kristine Mackey recorded an abstention in that vote.
Mrs. Avalos nominated Joseph Cortese for Board Vice‑President; on a roll call vote the Ayes were Mr. Ehart, Mrs. Avalos, Mr. Cortese, Mrs. Vlerick, Dr. Mackey, Dr. Isenberg and Mrs. Bevan and the vote carried, electing Cortese vice‑president. Mr. Cortese nominated Eric Isenberg for Board Secretary; the roll call recorded unanimous support and Isenberg was elected.
Mrs. Avalos then welcomed the new members and "set expectations for future meetings," including committee assignments and outside committee representation. She noted that the President and Vice‑President would meet by May 31 to discuss shared commitments about agenda input and participation in the superintendent search.
