County rezones parcel in Jackpot to allow developer-led housing; staff cites $500,000 for improvements

The planning commission approved staff recommendations for a county-initiated rezoning of a county-owned parcel in Jackpot to allow a single-family residential neighborhood on R1-8000 lots. Staff said the county recently transferred the parcel to a developer and that the Jackpot advisory board voted unanimously to recommend approval. "Jackpot is in dire need of housing. I mean, literally dire need," Corey said during his presentation.
Corey told commissioners the county can contribute $500,000 toward right-of-way and infrastructure improvements, and that the development agreement will require phase 1 to be recorded and phase 2 to be started within five years or ownership will revert to the county. After a short discussion the commission moved, seconded and approved the rezoning with the staff conditions the board read into the record.
