Public commenters ask for mailbox labels; County legislator updates board on EMT staffing and legal costs

During the public comment portion of the meeting, Hope Trappler asked that town mailboxes be re-labeled so citizens could tell which box is for the Court and which is for Town Hall. The minutes record: "Hope Trappler asked if the mailboxes could be re-labeled so citizens knew which box was for the Court and Town Hall."
County Legislator Bob Nichols provided a quarterly update later in the meeting. Nichols told the board the county is appealing a sexual-harassment matter at a cost of $20,000 and that insurance premiums and deductibles have risen as a result. Nichols also reported Hammondsport turned over a building and $300,000 to the county for EMT services; EMT coverage is currently seven days at 12 hours per day and will move to seven days at 24 hours per day starting in July. He said municipalities face staffing challenges after the State doubled certification training hours.
