Planning & Zoning presented a draft of proposed changes to the conditional‑use permit process that would, among other items, remove the five‑acre requirement in some cases, exempt modular or stick‑built homes from CUP requirements on established lots, and clarify health‑department and zoning permit prerequisites. County Manager Thomas Weaver said the commission will forward the planning board’s draft to County Attorney Bin Minter for legal review before placing it on a future work session agenda for action.
Commissioners emphasized the need for clear language about when a CUP is required for new parcels versus already established lots and asked staff to ensure required notices, signs and inspections are retained in any revised procedure.
