The board approved an easement with American Electric Power (AEP) to place underground electric service to the Alexander Highway Garage, a move staff said improves safety around heavy truck activity and allows AEP access for future maintenance.
Skye Meaders said the easement permits AEP to place equipment and conduit and to enter the site for repairs when necessary. "We have a lot of trucks going in and out of there, sometimes at night when it's snowing, and it's, just a lot safer if that's underground," Meaders said. Commissioners approved the easement, and staff confirmed there is no cost to the county associated with the easement.
Why it matters: undergrounding service can reduce outage risk and improve safety where heavy equipment and vehicle traffic enter and exit county facilities.
