District 92 honors student achievers, award-winning staff and retiring employee

At its May 20 meeting the board recognized Oak Prairie bowlers, Reed Math Star nominees and the Reed Word Masters team, named two Illinois 'Those Who Excel' award winners from Ludwig School, and celebrated the retirement of longtime staff member Gina Tacchia.

The board opened recognitions by acknowledging Oak Prairie students Joey Cox, Madison Martin and Jordyn Martin for qualifying for state bowling preliminaries; Jordyn Martin advanced to the finals and finished 48th in the state. Reed Principal Breanna Golden and teacher Colleen Reynolds then introduced Reed students nominated for The Math Stars 10-year program (students scored in the 98th percentile or higher), and Golden recognized the Reed Word Masters third-grade team for placing 14th out of 126 teams nationally.
Principal Jeff Kulik recognized Ludwig School Social Worker Kristin Grahovec and teacher Rebecca Vickers as recipients of the Illinois State Board of Education 'Those Who Excel' awards (Grahovec in Student Support; Vickers in Classroom Teacher). Superintendent Kirsten Frankovich and Principal Breanna Golden also recognized Gina Tacchia on the eve of her retirement after 33 years with the district.
