Perry City Council received a first reading Aug. 4 for an annexation (ANNEX00882026) and accompanying rezoning of several parcels on Highway 127 from county designations to City C-2 General Commercial. Miss Wharton (speaker 6) presented the application and confirmed staff and the planning commission recommended approval; the parcels lie near the intersection of Highway 127 (Houston Lake Road) and Lake Joy Road.
Madison Holland (speaker 13), who spoke in favor, told council the annexation would complement growth around the Perry Parkway/Houston Lake intersection and could provide local jobs. Council did not take final action; the item was placed on the record as a first reading. The detailed tax-parcel numbers and maps were shown on screen during the meeting and remain part of the official file.
