Board hears requests to reissue Lands'Connect contracts for multiple parcels, staff recommends CEQA exemption

Bernadette, assistant associate planner, summarized two separate applications to amend existing Lands'Connect contracts: one for an 89-acre parcel south and east of Greenview on Eller Lane and another requesting two separate contracts for property near McDowell to support strawberry production and livestock grazing. Staff found the parcels are inside ag preserves that require amendment and recommended determining the projects exempt from CEQA and adopting resolutions to amend preserves and reissue contracts.
"Staff recommends determining the project exempt in CEQA, adopt the resolutions amending the ag preserve, and resend the property from the existing contract and reissue a single contract on subject property within the newly established preserve," Bernadette said of the Greenview request. For the McDowell ranch, staff recommended similar steps and proposed a new 706-acre preserve for the reissued contracts. No proponents or opponents appeared during the hearings; the board closed the hearings and directed staff to bring the items back for final resolutions and actions.
Why this matters: Lands'Connect contract amendments affect land-use protections, agricultural preserve boundaries and future farming and grazing operations; the board will consider final resolutions on these amendments at a subsequent meeting.
