Siskiyou board extends local emergency amid rising livestock depredations

Joanne Johnson, project coordinator for county administration, briefed the board on recent probable livestock depredations and told supervisors the affected predator population appears to be both increasing and dispersing across the county.
"By all indication, the information I'm getting is the population is increasing, and so is dispersal across the county," Johnson said, recommending the board extend the local emergency declared by resolution 25-200 (adopted 11/18/2025). The chair moved to extend the emergency; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
Board discussion was brief; staff said internal coordination and meetings with the livestock coalition are ongoing. The extension preserves county authorities and response coordination while staff and partner groups continue monitoring depredations.
