Public commenter urges district to consider hiring security; board schedules safety drills

During audience participation at the Sept. 30 board meeting, Ray Elmore presented statistics on school shootings since 1999 and recommended the district consider hiring either an armed or unarmed security officer.
Superintendent Mr. Johnson also reported that the district will conduct an active-shooter drill on Oct. 7, 2025, at both LaSalle and Parkview schools and tentatively schedule a reunification drill for Oct. 24, 2025. The minutes record Mr. Elmore's suggestion but show no board action or commitment to change security staffing at this meeting.
