Michelle Harris of the 1st 5 team asked the board to proclaim April as Child Abuse Awareness Month and noted local partners and programming that support families and early childhood. "We are here today to respectfully ask you to proclaim April's Child Abuse Awareness Month," she said, and presenters described family game nights, parent education groups and literacy programs that aim to build resilience.
Karen Fox and Mackenzie Holt, also from the 1st 5 team, thanked county partners including Health and Human Services and the Office of Education for leveraging community school dollars and invited supervisors to a community partner celebration on April 2. The board approved the proclamation by voice vote.
