Near the end of its July 4 meeting the Ellis County Commission moved into a 15-minute executive session under the attorney–client privilege exception to the Kansas Open Meetings Act to discuss pending litigation. Commissioner Nathan Liger made the motion, specifying the exception and listing attendees; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the recess.
When the board reconvened in open session, the chair said no decisions were made in executive session and adjourned the meeting at 09:54. The commission recorded attendees as including Bill Jeter and County Administrator Darren Myers for the executive-session portion.
