NDOW outlines Cortez bighorn relocation; Elko CAB supports biannual big-game release amendments

Scott Roberts said the effort would move about 150 sheep among several release sites, with staff and partners estimating approximately 60 to Cortez, 50 to Tobin and 50 to Utah depending on capture success and capture conditions. "We've secured cooperative agreements with all the major landowners... so far so good," Roberts said, describing work since February and noting pre-release disease testing and NGO funding to assist pre-treatment of release sites.
The CAB moved to support the biannual big-game release plan amendment (amendment number 4) and voiced support for the relocation approach, acknowledging follow-up work remains to finalize logistics and BLM approvals.
