Council approves updates to city fee schedule across departments
Summary
After a public hearing, the city council approved Resolution 26-067 updating fees for building, library, planning, streets/engineering and water departments; staff said many fees had not been updated since 2008 and the changes align local charges with regional comparators.

Renata McLeod, municipal services director, explained that Idaho code requires a public hearing for fee changes over 5 percent and that staff provided multiple notices and a webpage posting. She summarized highlights across departments, including reinstating an expired permit-reinstatement fee in the Building Department, a new 3-D printing material-cost fee at the Library, updates to planning fees (including parking-in-lieu calculations), new improvement-plan-review fees for streets and engineering, and revised bulk-water and backflow-related charges for the Water Department.
Council members discussed the fee-in-lieu-of-parking policy and asked staff to return with options. Building staff reported benchmarking that shows the proposed building fees are near regional peers, and water staff explained bulk-water charges are intended to recover costs and protect public health. After questions and brief discussion council approved Resolution 26-067 by roll call.
