Committee recommends approval of operator's-license appeal for Dalton McGee, sends recommendation to Common Council

The P and P committee voted on Aug. 3 to grant an appeal by Dalton McGee of a denial of an operator's license and recommended that the Common Council consider approving the license at its Aug. 18 meeting. Committee members said McGee's presence and willingness to answer questions weighed in favor of recommending the appeal be granted to the full council for final action.
McGee told the committee he marked "no" to questions about convictions because some matters were only just starting or he misunderstood how to report them on the form. "The case has just started and it hasn't even gone up for anything yet, so I didn't even know it was processing technically," McGee said. Committee members pressed about the June 2026 conviction for uttering forgery and prior traffic and ordinance matters but noted his employer had submitted a supporting letter explaining the need for the license.
Committee members said being present to explain circumstances and showing willingness to comply were positive factors. The committee's approval is a recommendation to the Common Council; the clerk's office will complete licensing steps only after council action.
