Suffield: roof replacement enters state review; inspectors, structural review needed for PV‑ready metal roof

Facilities Director Larry Plano updated the Permanent Building Commission on school work under way and said the Roof Replacement Project has all required signatures and is entering the state review process; he noted the project "remains eligible for the federal incentive associated with the photovoltaic component."
Commission discussion highlighted that switching from an asphalt shingle roof to a standing‑seam metal roof with PV requires a Statement of Special Inspections and that additional structural review will be needed. Members asked Silver Petrucelli to coordinate with a structural engineer so those inspection requirements can be incorporated into the bid specifications prior to bidding.
Mr. Plano also reported that summer construction has begun at the High School — HVAC retro‑commissioning by Salas O'Brien, rooftop unit work by Carrier and flooring replacement at both the High School and Spaulding School — that code issues delaying Spaulding School bathroom work have been resolved and that repairs for a High School locker room water leak have been completed and inspected.
