Pateros hears parks, floodplain and public-safety updates; resident asks about Peninsula Park shower

Resident Rhonda Hayes asked whether an outside shower would be installed at Peninsula Park for swimmers; City Administrator Jord Wilson responded that the shower is on a list of desired improvements but is not included in this year's budget. Hayes also asked whether the playground sign would be replaced; Clerk Kerri Wilson said a replacement sign had been ordered and that playground equipment improvements come through the PUD.
City Administrator Jord Wilson displayed rough-draft FEMA floodplain maps to the council and discussed possible locations for a new reader-board sign that the Booster Club is installing. Wilson also reported new striping for a 3-on-3 tournament.
Fire Chief Heen reported ongoing maintenance and training at the fire hall, including a motor-vehicle-accident drill at Schulls and a wildland refresher; Chief Heen reported repairs to one engine and said he felt the pump-testing contractor chosen was a good option despite low volunteer numbers.
