Mayor Gates presented a final draft of an updated franchise agreement and asked the council to adopt the ordinance granting a water and sewer franchise to the Jasper Water Works and Sewer Board. "Following months of negotiations, we have a final draft before you today, seeking your approval for a new updated franchise agreement with the Jasper Water Works and Sewer Board," he said.
A council member moved adoption and the item passed on a voice vote. Later a representative of the utility, Wes Hallman, publicly thanked the mayor and council for granting the franchise during the comments portion of the meeting.
