Council schedules fall town hall, discusses donations and asset disposal
Summary

During the leadership-report portion of the meeting, staff said the city received a $10,000 offer from Lillard City to purchase a surplus ambulance; council members indicated prior agreement to dispose of the vehicle and gave general assent to proceed with the sale.
Council also discussed whether the city should use taxpayer funds to sponsor local charities and events. Council member (S6) questioned the principle of using public dollars for charitable sponsorships and recommended bringing the topic to the town hall for public input. The Chair and other members agreed to schedule a town hall in September (options discussed included Sept. 10 and Sept. 24 with a preference toward Sept. 24 at 6:00 p.m.) to gather resident views on sponsorship priorities and budget allocations.
Council also confirmed a tentative city employee appreciation party in mid-September and agreed to advertise and coordinate the town hall with community development staff in attendance to answer questions.
