City awards $200,000 from SPUR business grants and readies RFQ for GoLocal program

Doctor Nelson (staff) told the committee that award letters for the SPUR business grant round went out and that the program received $1.6 million in requests; the city awarded $200,000 in this round. "We were able to award $200,000 of that," Nelson said while summarizing the outreach to applicants and ongoing follow-up.
Nelson also announced recruitment for an economic development specialist position (bilingual preferred), an RFQ to operate the GoLocal program, and an upcoming Planning Commission briefing on the comprehensive economic-development strategic plan expected in late August. Staff invited council feedback and public engagement on the draft strategy.
