Bond counsel introduces Bakers Corner bond ordinance to finance water and sewer upgrades

Dennis Ottman, bond counsel with Bose McKinney & Evans, introduced a general obligation bond ordinance the council will consider in coming months to finance water and sewer improvements in the Bakers Corner area and to refinance an outstanding 2023 bond anticipation note. "Just wanted to introduce tonight the the ordinance, because this will be on your agenda for the next 2 months of council meetings," Ottman said, adding that public hearings will be held because of the size of the issues involved.
Ottman told the council staff will return with a related appropriation ordinance that would appropriate the bond proceeds, and that the council should expect a first reading in September followed by a second reading and a request for adoption in October. Oscar Gutierrez of Bondry Consultants was mentioned as available to answer technical questions at future meetings. The council did not take action on the ordinance itself at this meeting; Ottman described this appearance as a preliminary introduction and scheduling of the public hearings.
