Commissioners debated a variance request for a carport built without permits at 1221 West Park and ultimately postponed the vote to allow further review and a meeting with staff.
Miss Ball (speaker 7) told the commission the carport projects showed a 2'6" front encroachment and that planning and zoning recommended conditions including state permits, inspections and that the owner handle modifications if future infrastructure work required it. Several commissioners raised concern about an apparent side-yard encroachment that could create hazards if a neighbor later built a structure adjacent to it.
"The roof line of the carport is directly on the property line...there's no side yard setback," Miss Ball said, explaining what the photographs and measurements show. Commissioners agreed to postpone the vote and asked staff to meet with Miss Ball and the owners, provide additional paperwork and return the item at the next meeting.
