Lovington police, fire chiefs report summer public-safety activity and event coverage

The Lovington Police Department presented its June activity report: with 13 officers the department logged 1,341 incident responses, 618 self-initiated actions, 351 traffic stops, 187 citations and 20 arrests. The department also organized a school-supply giveaway and distributed 200 bags; staff said they ran out and 80 children were unable to get supplies.
"With 13 officers, we had 1,341 responses for incidences," a police official (speaker 6) said. The official highlighted traffic enforcement numbers and community outreach events.
The Fire Department described plans to provide dedicated coverage for the Fair/Rodeo parade, including ladder-truck participation and ambulance coverage at the arena. Fire leadership provided a June workload breakdown: 266 EMS calls, 68 inter-facility transfers and 14 fire calls, and said crews will staff multiple events during the weekend.
