Participants at the Feb. 4 Farmington Board and Community Dialogue raised concerns that STEAM/STEM course offerings at the secondary level are limited and that elementary and middle school opportunities are sparse outside the Farmington STEAM Academy (FSA). The concerns were raised during and after Margaret Hendrickson's district presentation on STEAM/STEM programming.
Hendrickson summarized district priorities including career exploration and a K–12 instructional focus area called 'Real‑World Relevance Authenticity.' Attendees asked for broader access to hands‑on learning across grade levels; the meeting record shows these as discussion points rather than adopted policy or assigned follow‑up. No votes or motions addressing course offerings were taken at the session.
