Board nominates Roderick Means as MASB Region 8 candidate after paper ballots

The Farmington Board of Education finalized its nomination for the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) Region 8 Board of Directors seat at the Feb. 25 meeting, selecting Roderick Means as the board's nominee.
After an initial motion to cast a ballot failed for lack of a second, Trustee Claudia T. Heinrich moved and Trustee Cheryl B. Blau supported a paper-ballot process in which each board member would write their top candidate choice and President Terri A. Weems would read the ballots aloud for public record. The motion passed 4–1 (Turner opposed). Board members then cast and read their votes publicly: Secretary David N. Turner voted for Anisha Hannah; Trustee Heinrich voted for Roderick Means; President Weems and Trustee Hull both voted for Roderick Means; Trustee Blau voted for Scott Wallace. With the tally announced publicly, the board moved and voted 5–0 to cast its ballot for Roderick Means and authorize the superintendent's office executive assistant to submit the ballot.
An email receipt later to executive assistant Colleen Scripture from AssociationVoting.com confirmed an online vote recorded Feb. 26 for Roderick Means in the Region 8 election, per the voting service's confirmation message.
