The Durand Area Schools Board of Education on May 12 approved purchasing Reading Rewards workbooks and associated teacher stipends for all Durand Middle School students. Member Kasey Fiebernitz moved the measure; the board adopted the motion unanimously.
“Moved by member Fiebernitz and supported by member J. Zdunic that the Board of Education hereby resolves to approve the purchase of workbooks for Reading Rewards for all Durand Middle School students. The cost of approximately $4,600 would be for student workbook and stipends for teachers to attend training, as presented.” The board recorded a roll-call vote of six ayes and no nays. The district said the funds cover student materials and teacher stipends to accompany training tied to the Reading Rewards curriculum.
