"Only approximately about 7% of our budget is based on federal revenues," Bree Brown said during the presentation, adding the office would not speculate on possible federal action and that staff had not received any definitive state guidance about replacing potential federal shortfalls. Brown explained county offices return excess property taxes to the state and described the statutory timelines that govern interim reporting.
Brown told trustees the next formal milestones are the governor's May revise (around May 14), budget hearings on June 10 and final adoption on June 24, and that unaudited actuals will be prepared in October. Trustees asked staff to follow up with an estimate of how much the office might draw from its stabilization fund given the fiscal uncertainty.
