Parents and students tell Lake Shore Board pool breakdowns are hindering swim team

David Roy and Daniel Lowry told the board the pool’s ongoing problems have disrupted team practices; Allison Roy, a Lake Shore High School junior who also works as a lifeguard, described how the issue is affecting her experience as both an athlete and an employee.
Superintendent Dr. DiPonio responded that the pool had been repaired last week but the pump subsequently failed and work is continuing. He reminded the board that the pool was resurfaced under the district’s 2016 bond, which included starting blocks and depth adjustments, and said that additional work affecting drainage would be a significant undertaking. The board did not take formal action on repairs at the meeting; parents and students were thanked for bringing the concern to the board’s attention.
